The event "Medievalia / Astronomy in the Time of Dante" will be held on Wednesday, September 13, 2023, in two sessions (6:30 PM and 7:30 PM) at the Caserta Planetarium. Admission is free.

There is a widespread (false!) belief that in the Middle Ages astronomical research also experienced a period of stagnation, like other scientific disciplines.

True, there were no major innovations. But the measurement of the positions of celestial bodies and orientation experienced great progress thanks to the introduction of two instruments.

The activity includes: theoretical presentation and experimental demonstration during the visit to the Planetarium museum route and a short narration in the dome (fulldome show, approximately 10 minutes).

The event is part of Medievalia culture of the Middle Ages, 15th edition, a cycle conceived and created by the Cultural Association “Ave Gratia Plena” and the Cultural Association “Francesco Durante”.

The STREETS / Researchers' Night 2023 project aims to create dynamic interactions between science and society.

The program of all pre-events and events are published on the website:
