Another fatal accident at work. A 54-year-old worker, Alfonso Gisini, originally from Giugliano in the province of Naples, died yesterday while they were carrying out work in an Ater building in Corchiano, in the province of Viterbo.
According to the reconstruction, a false wall suddenly collapsed, overwhelming two workers. The 54-year-old died after being taken to the hospital, while his colleague was slightly injured.
"Yesterday, in the Viterbo area, the collapse of a wall in an Ater building killed a worker: this death is unacceptable and must not be in vain. We must unite, institutions and private individuals, to create truly safe working environments. I express my deepest condolences to the relatives and friends of the victim." This was stated in a note by the President of the Lazio Region Francesco Rocca.
Worker Alfonso Gisini, 54, who leaves behind a wife and two children, died after being hit by the external wall of a building in via Donatori di sangue.
Gisini was an employee of the Neapolitan company responsible for carrying out work on a public housing building in Corchiano. He died yesterday afternoon, Monday 4 September, a few hours after the accident that occurred around 11,30:XNUMX. Rescued by helicopter, he was transported in red code and in very serious conditions to the Gemelli hospital in Rome where he later died.
A colleague was injured and ended up in the emergency room of the Andosilla hospital in Civita Castellana. His conditions are not worrying since, unlike Gisini, who was hit directly by the false wall, he was only grazed by the bricks that fell to the ground.
Two other workers raised the alarm after hearing the noise of the collapse. The 118 health workers, the staff of the ASL and the Labor Inspectorate and the Carabinieri intervened on the spot. The prosecutor's office opened a file and began investigations into the tragedy, aimed at reconstructing the dynamics and causes of the accident.
Yesterday, investigators have already made the first surveys, including photographs, and interviewed some people. According to what has been reconstructed, the work inside the construction site had not yet started, with the workers who were there for an inspection aimed at preliminary investigations.
Two couples and a family live in the building, but for security reasons they have been temporarily moved.
