The Royal Palace of Naples is organizing a series of activities on Saturday 23 and Sunday 24 September 2023 on the occasion of the GEP – European Heritage Days, the largest and most popular cultural event in Europe.

During the two days, guided tours and special initiatives on the theme: “Patrimonio InVita” will be organized in Italian museums and cultural sites, in addition to an extraordinary opening on the evening of Saturday 23 September with entrance at the symbolic cost of 1,00 euro (+1,00 euro for the heritage damaged in the flood in Emilia-Romagna).

At the Royal Palace of Naples, access to the Appartamento di Etichetta for this initiative will be permitted from 20,00:23,00 pm to 22,00:20.00 pm (last entry at 22,15:21 pm), while the opening hours of the Caruso Museum, which can be visited with the same ticket, will be from 30:XNUMX pm to XNUMX:XNUMX pm with last entry at XNUMX:XNUMX pm with entry from the Cortile delle Carrozze.

Also on Saturday, the Royal Palace of Naples will open the Deposito Foriera to the public for the first time with two guided tours at 9 am.

The Foriera Deposit, located beneath the Cortile del Belvedere, occupies the spaces formerly used for Navy service and connected at the time to the military dock below. Later they were used as a “warehouse” and as a place to store paintings. The space currently houses 19th-century furnishings, mostly from the rooms that now house the “Vittorio Emanuele III” National Library.

During the journey, visitors in groups of up to 25 people will be accompanied by an architect and an art historian on a route not usually accessible to the public. Through a suggestive elliptical piperno staircase it will also be possible to retrace part of the descent that leads to the current Via Acton, on the site of the ancient Arsenal.

On Sunday 24 September, instead, two shifts are planned for guided tours of the restoration laboratory and the painting storage room, during which the museum staff will illustrate to visitors the work environments in which the restorers take care of the artistic heritage of the Museum and the painting storage room, placed here in 2014 following important renovation works.

Also in this case, visits will be carried out for groups of maximum 25 people, starting at 16.30:18.30 pm and XNUMX:XNUMX pm, with mandatory reservations until all places are filled at the link: https://www.coopculture.it/it/prodotti/il-laboratorio-di-restauro-ei-depositi-quadri-e-cornici/.
