A week of meetings, music, viewing of short films, but above all of emotions. This is the perfect synthesis of an event that has been able to not only give space and value to short films, but has also been able to give space and value to masterclasses, book presentations, musical moments and training meetings.
A week filled with powerful emotions, from the candlelight vigil organized in the aftermath of Maria Rosa Troisi's murder to abolish violence against women, to the meeting with Tina Montinaro, widow of Antonio, Giovanni Falcone's security detail, who died at just 29 in the Capaci attack. Strong emotions for those who attended the Picentia Film Festival on Sunday morning and were able to see up close what remains of the "Quarto Savona 15," the car in which the three dead security agents were traveling, along with the judge and his wife. Strong emotions were felt listening to Dr. Montinaro, Prosecutor Curcio, Mayor Francese, and all the other guests speak, forcefully reaffirming their commitment to fighting the Mafia and all types of criminal organizations, repeatedly urging young people not to look the other way, not to be afraid to try to make a difference.
"This edition was one of awareness. - said the artistic director Luca Capacchione - The plot, from an ideal and evanescent theme, has transformed into something tangible, concrete, and material. We have experienced unexpected moments, which have given rise to strong, determined, and critical thinking. The goal, as always, is to give the City of Battipaglia—the region we are born from—a testament to how cinema and culture can be a driving force for growth in every respect. The social impact the Festival generates is the culmination of the many efforts and sacrifices of our association, the institutions, and all those who believe in a project that can only grow. I am (and we are!) proud of Picentia, the pride and joy of a group of young people who tirelessly continue to believe in the dream called cinema.
