The final of the “Le pagine della terra” Award is approaching, the first literary competition dedicated to the green novel founded by Claudio Cutuli and Vera Slepoj.
On September 14th, in the presence of the Minister of Culture Sangiuliano and the Mayor of Naples Manfredi, the awards ceremony will take place at 19.30:XNUMX pm in the splendid and evocative Basilica of the Archaeological Park of Pompeii.
Competing for the prestigious award will be: Gabriele Romagnoli with Sogno bianco, Valeria Tron with L'equilibrio delle lucciole and Marco Valsesia with La vita segreta delle api. After the success of the two previous editions, the objective that the Award has always set itself, that of giving voice to those who through culture and writing become spokesmen for the need for change, a new "gentle" movement that is attentive to our beloved Mother Earth, becomes even more fundamental and important.
With this spirit, the jury of the Award, chaired by Ermete Realacci and Enrico Vanzina, and composed of Marco Cappelletto, Gaetano Cappelli, Federica Corsini, Barbara Degani, Rosalba Giugni, Giovanni Grasso, Father Enzo Fortunato, Claudio Gubitosi, Laura Lega, Gen. CA Antonio Pietro Marzo, Clemente Mimun, Vincenzo Pepe, Antonio Polito, Paolo Possamai, will choose the winner. An important new feature this year is the partnership with the Archaeological Park of Pompeii: the excavations will host the final of the Award.
In addition, the master dyer Claudio Cutuli will reproduce the paintings of Pompeii on fabrics, donating 50% of the proceeds to the conservation of the archaeological assets of the Park. The art of dyeing represents a flagship of the artisan tradition of our country and is in total continuity with the same art celebrated in the mural works of the Pompeian villas.
“A perfect synergy – declares the director of the excavations, Gabriel Zuchtriegel – considering that the care and enhancement of greenery in Pompeii is an integral part of our strategy and in many ways is inseparable from the protection and enjoyment of the archaeological heritage. 21st century archaeology is always also a search for sustainability: environmental, social and managerial.
We will work on the use of dyeing plants from Pompeii, and we also imagine laboratories and spaces to tell the story of the tradition of this art from ancient fullonicas to the present day”. A special award will also be given to the artist Michelangelo Pistoletto for his latest work The Formula of Creation. Finally, a special mention will go to Sadiq Khan, Mayor of London who, in his autobiographical book Breathe: Tackling the Climate Emergency, published in Italy by Egea, promotes his battle for a greener City with cleaner air.
The book clearly and loudly conveys the message that change is possible, that the dialogue between politics, management and society can consolidate and make this green challenge a reality.
