“The eyes are the mirror of the soul.” Who knows how many times we have heard this phrase. Millions of times.
So much so that we no longer pay attention to it, we have trivialized it, we no longer think that the eyes play a central role in human relationships. Especially today when - too often - communication occurs by looking at a screen. And yet, it is still the eyes that allow us to express emotions, intentions and connections. The eyes are still the only window to the soul. So let's open these blessed eyes and witness that great collective pact that is the theater.
Where to look helps us see the world around us better. It's up to you to decide whether to keep them closed and miss out on life or open them and enjoy the emotions of shared and reciprocal glances. It's up to you to open the right window to the soul.
Make your choice, but do so with your eyes wide open.
This year too we will have a season preview where Nest Napoli Est Teatro in collaboration with Argot productions and Fertili Terreni, will present the semi-final of the fourth edition of OVER / Theatrical Emergencies in the Neapolitan room on 7 and 8 October 2023, in a rich two-day of shows and reflections on the new Italian theater panorama. Also this year, great attention will be paid to the little ones: on March 2nd and 3rd, Greta La Matta will be on stage, a collective creation by Massimiliano Burini, Matteo Svolacchia and Giulia Zeetti, designed for the whole family, which tells the story of the growth of a little girl, who in a transformation of nicknames is labelled and excluded by everyone and the world.

The two-day event will end with Much Ado About Nothing, the Neapolitan adaptation of Shakespeare's play of the same name, curated and directed by Giuseppe Miale di Mauro with traditional Neapolitan music curated by Mariano Bellopede. Last but not least, our last appointment with Una Serata al Nest with Lillo Petrolo as the protagonist (Date to be defined).
The Nest season, also this year, finds ample space for workshops, evidence of a training proposal carried forward with great strength and conviction, totally free, which this year sees the partnership with Q8, whose aim is not to create new actresses or new actors but new culturally aware citizens, who wish to inhabit a theater and a cultural place, who love it, nourish it, live it. Among the teachers who this year participate with immense dedication to our project are Cristina Donadio, Maurizio Capone, Mariano Tufano, Anna Redi. "At Q8 we have always believed in people and their talents. This is why we decided
to give our contribution, supporting the laboratories of the project of approach to the theatre
#GiovaniO'Nest, dedicated to young people who want to try their hand at the seventh art. – comments Fortunato Costantino Director of Human Resources, Legal & Corporate Affairs of Q8. We are convinced that companies can and must increasingly play a social role: investing in culture and quality projects therefore represents not only a concrete commitment to the realization of dreams, but also a valid support for the territory in terms of valorization of human heritage, as well as the creation of energy, synergies and constant stimuli” – he concludes.
Another important new development this season will see a partnership between Nest and Kineton that will give life to a training project for new technical and administrative personalities to maximize the transmission and specific professionalization in the sectors of theatrical technical-cognitive development. The courses will train new theatrical electricians and new theatrical stagehands. On the one hand – explains Kineton – a company that, in the panorama of young entrepreneurship, has carved out a space for itself of visibility and productivity, as demonstrated by the awards and many certificates obtained, not only on a national level. On the other hand, a theater that is born from the courageous and audacious choice not to be a "spectacle factory", but to graft itself onto a social fabric in which marginalization and violation of the law have constituted for many years the recognizability and definition of an entire territory".
The Nest acting courses for cinema and theater will finally start in October. The courses will be reserved for children aged 9 to 19 and will aim to provide the fundamental notions and the right practice for working as an actor/actress through the study of acting techniques, stage movement, voice modulation and expressiveness. Siag Cafè will accompany us in this new adventure, donating eight scholarships for course students.
From 1 September until 31 December we will have the "Polibus Shuttle" service made available by the municipality of Naples. The shuttle will leave, on the occasion of the shows, from Piazza Giovanni Bovio and the University Metro station and will allow you to reach the NEST- Napoli Est Teatro without any intermediate stops. The routes are clearly understood to include the outward and return journey.
