The dream of Pamela Noucho it came true: since yesterday evening it is in fact Italian champion di boxing of the lightweights, after having beaten at Casoria (Napoli) her challenger in the belt fight. A dream that for the 31-year-old nurse from Bologna seemed out of reach, given that until a year ago she did not have Italian citizenship.
Pamela Malvina Nooutcho Sawa has lived in Italy since she was 8 years old, after reuniting with her father who had left Cameroon for study and work. She spent her childhood and adolescence in Perugia; then in Bologna, where she graduated from the bachelor's and master's degrees in Nursing Sciences and where, during an internship in a reception center for the homeless, inside which there was a small gym, she fell in love with boxing at first sight.
She works as a nurse at the Maggiore in Bologna and trains at Bolognina boxe, one of the city's sports institutions. Then, in August last year, after a very long bureaucratic process, she received citizenship, with the oath before Mayor Lepore. An oath that made her become Italian in all respects, but that, above all, gave her the opportunity to step into the ring to become Italian champion: a goal achieved at the first attempt after a hard-fought match, won on points, but with the unanimous verdict of the judges, against Nadia Flahali.
