"Quello che basta" is the new single by singer-songwriter Riki Cellini, available on the radio, digital stores, and streaming platforms starting today, Friday, September 15th.

There's a subtle thread running through Riki Cellini's work. A thread that ties, and ties us, to the '80s, then unravels through time thanks to the power of tenderness, nostalgia, and the simplicity of references and citations that aren't just mechanical repetitions of sounds or arrangements, but authentic reinventions.

A thread, then, that we might also call "love," just like the very message of this new song: the extraordinary in everyday life, fittingly announced by a theme song. A variety show "to talk about nothing," perhaps, but one in which we love to "clap our hands in time."

Independent, passionate, and unconventional, Riki Cellini releases "Quello che basta" two years after "Canzonissima," a tribute to the great television and music of the past.

"Independent ad hoc because in all my years of music I have always done my own thing, even banging it against walls but proud of my choices motivated by a true passion and a great respect for music. – Cellini tells about himself – I go against the grain in favor of authenticity because I've never cared about fashions, trends, or genres (in music as in life). What characterizes my music is definitely a healthy dose of self-irony and a constant desire to challenge myself."

It's no coincidence that he proves it with this latest production too, with a song that's a must-listen, combining some of Cellini's signature style with the more typical elements of contemporary Italian indie sound. The song was written in collaboration with Roman actor and composer Attilio Fontana and Bergamo musician Valerio Baggio, who also handled the artistic production.

Two and a half minutes, light and delicate, focusing on photographs of what is enough to rediscover oneself with the inevitable sarcasm that characterizes most of his pop records written with Attilio, that pop understood in a personalistic and refined way, a bit like, in different ways and at different times, Lucio Dalla, Samuele Bersani and Rino Gaetano have been able to do.

"Millions of impulses a day launch us into a hyper-everything where reconnecting with our most intimate part has become an impossible luxury, especially for the algorithm that wants us increasingly on the 'piece' - says Attilio Fontana who, after the success in the 90s with I Ragazzi Italiani, has built a path between music, television and theatre - This song, instead, is a window that seems to no longer exist, and which we can occasionally step through to dive into a simpler yet deeper part of ourselves: that of feeling, understood as listening to ourselves. It speaks of the moment when we decide to ask ourselves where we're going and allow ourselves to slow down to regain possession of ourselves, of a horizon that has the time of a sunset and that feels like sand on our feet, the time of a cigarette and eyes we had time to look at and remember, just because we were there and in no other multiverse.

The single's release is accompanied by a music video directed by Tommaso Pirotta for DMP Movies, an independent film production collective: "Music is being slapped in the face by algorithms and the rush of social media," says Cellini. "Songwriting has become like a betrayed hope to be rediscovered and nurtured. That's why I confess I'm always moved to listen to this song, which was born on a magical afternoon with Attilio and Valerio, because all it takes is the little bit we truly need, and someone, perhaps right next to us, capable of listening to even the silence that always remains a beautiful, blank apostrophe amidst one great chaos and another."

A multifaceted and charismatic artist who over the years has ranged across different musical genres without ever losing his originality, Cellini has built a musical path that has led him to publish 4 albums, 15 singles and excellent collaborations.

Biography

Storyteller of the Italian independent scene with a large following not only because he has been active in the area for 30 years, but for his excellent collaborations. He explores his great passions by attending the European Institute of Design (IED) and the Centro Professione Musica (CPM) in Milan, thus starting to work as an Art Director in the world of advertising and to express himself as an artist in music. Lazy but a human volcano, calm but always on the move, he proposes his music and his ideas touring the venues of the peninsula in crowded "pop" evenings, winning the esteem of the insiders and the public, who are very fond of him. An artist not by chance, Riki Cellini deals with all forms of communication: from theater to television, from radio (he has collaborated with R101, RDS, Radio Number One) to music, of course. After “Meravigliosa Mattinata” produced by Roby Facchinetti and “Trallallero Live”, “Rettoriano” is the third album: a very personal tribute to one of the most irreverent and free characters of Italian music ever, Donatella Rettore. “Niente di nuovo” is the last album: a vinyl-collection released at the beginning of 2020, with the most representative moments of Cellini's musical journey, embellished with unreleased and special duets.
