“Didattica” is the title of the new album by the Salerno-based band Zetas, available from Friday 29 September on all digital platforms and on vinyl published by DJ's Choice, partner label of Four Flies Records.
An atypical debut for two girls from the suburbs born between the 90s and the 00s. Instead of being charmed by the sequins of trap and the autotune fashion characteristic of their generation, they aim for the roots of Hip-Hop culture and the classic sounds of rap.
Annarella and Miriade, these are the stage names of the two girls, grew up on bread and jam sessions, absorbing and making their own that classic style made of boom bap and tight flow. In the title Didattica it is possible to find the sense of their spirit: “Rap is a school and we Zetas have entered it head on. The key is constant training, pursuing one's ideals and one's identity.”
So under the protective wing of producer Tonico 70, the two millennials have created a contemporary album that looks to the sounds of the past.

The soundscape crafted by Tonico 70 begins with classic Golden Age samples, which are updated and complemented by Antonio D'Apolito's guitar, Peppe Maiellano's keyboards, Giuseppe Desiderio's bass, and Giuseppe Limpido's drums. The result is a combination of funk, soul, dub, R&B, reggae, and electro, blended with the intention of filtering the past through a contemporary vision.
Syncopated rhythms and deep bass accompany the rhymes of Annarella and Miriade, a vintage groove runs through choruses and verses where the charge of the dialect impacts the tracks, dragging the listener along.
The album is accompanied by the video clip of the track “Bomberz” directed by Pierpaolo Perna and inspired by the 1979 film “The Warriors”. Annarella and Miriade's playback flows between metropolitan settings and references to the cult film, where in particular the characteristic brown leather sleeveless jackets worn by the Warriors gang are reprised.
