Il Kingdom of Neptune, marine protected area around the islands of Ischia, Procida e Vivara, crowded “like a highway during the exodus”These are the words of the deputy Francesco Emilio Borrelli, who with images on social media showed the hundreds of boats moored in the protected area.
“Boating is experiencing a rapid growth and, at the same time, rudeness and lack of respect for the rules are growing. Boats cannot remain moored in marine protected areas established to protect vulnerable ecosystems. Otherwise, what are we protecting? A crowd of boats, like on the beach where only a strip of sand is available to bathers”.
“At sea as on land, rules and above all rigorous controls are needed to sanction those who do not respect them, causing significant damage to the territory and the environment. The siege of Kingdom of Neptune immortalized in the photos is not an isolated case, the devastation is repeated in too many bays of the splendid Campania coast, an environmental disaster that must be avoided. Against this drift it is necessary to strengthen controls at sea to prevent irreparable environmental damage", concludes Borrelli.
