Convened by the President of the Campania region Vincenzo De Luca, a meeting was held today in the Region on the project renovation with the Arechi stadium di Salerno and on the related organizational problems, in which the Prefect participated Francesco Russo, the commissioner Giancarlo Conticchio, Mayor Vincenzo Naples, the CEO of US Salernitana 1919 Maurice Milan, for the Football League Andrea Cardinaletti, the Commander of the Fire Brigade Charles Frederick, the director of the regional agency Arus Flavio DeMartino.
In view of the Arechi renovation works, an illustration of a project for the construction of a temporary stadium was given, to reduce the construction times. The hypothesis submitted to those present is that of a redevelopment of the “Volpe” sports field, located near the Arechi stadium. This hypothesis allows for the rapid construction of temporary structures and guarantees the possibility of not moving the fans out of the city.
It was decided to entrust the responsibility of coordinating the interventions to Dr. Cardinaletti, responsible for the Football League for sports facilities. This hypothesis must obviously guarantee all the necessary conditions of usability and safety. All those present expressed their agreement on this hypothesis.
In the next few days, once any further indications have been collected, a protocol will be approved between all the interested parties. Obviously, strict compliance with the deadlines for completing the works will be decisive. Obviously, the Salernitana will continue to use the Arechi stadium until the alternative structure is available. An initial timetable foresees the completion of the works in the Volpe area by December 2024.
