It was just after 20.00:112 pm last night when a woman, deeply worried about her brother, called the Operations Centre of the Carabinieri Company of Santa Maria Capua Vetere via “XNUMX”.
The same woman, in a state of agitation, reported to the operator on duty that her brother had locked himself in the house with suicidal intentions and that he did not intend to open the door to let her in.
A few minutes later, the Carabinieri of the local Operations Unit and Radiomobile arrived in via Irlanda, in the Sammaritano center, where they found her waiting for them in the street. The woman reported having smelled a strong odor of gas coming out of the apartment, repeating that her brother had blocked the entrance door from the inside.
Thanks to the immediate support of the Fire Brigade, requested in the meantime by the Operations Center of the Force, the soldiers managed to reach the French window of the balcony on the first floor of the building using a telescopic ladder and, after forcing it, entered the house.
As soon as they entered they were hit by the nauseating smell of gas and immediately secured the premises by opening the windows and going to the kitchen where they found the 31-year-old right next to the hob, with the gas key completely open.
After having stopped the leak, they carried the man out, who, in a very confused state, was entrusted to the care of the "118" paramedics, who in the meantime had been called to the scene.
The sister's promptness in requesting help and the perfect synergy between the departments involved averted the worst. Between tears and sighs, the family was able to hug the 31-year-old again, who was transported to the hospital in Aversa where he was admitted for treatment.
