'Scala meets New York', a thread between the Amalfi Coast and the USA

The September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks in New York changed the course of history of the third millennium. Scala, the oldest town in the Amalfi Coast, commemorates, after 22 years, the apocalypse of Ground Zero, ideally meeting the most modern metropolis. The event "Scala meets New York” will take place on Saturday 9th September to continue “to express that great desire for peace and harmony present in the heart of every man”. After the intense three days dedicated to Blessed Gerardo Sasso, the event will take place in a single evening: at 20.00 pm the laying of the laurel wreath on the bronze monument “Resurrectino Day” by the artist Silvio Amelio, with military honors, followed by speeches by the mayor of Scala Ivana Bottone, the prefect of Salerno Francesco Russo, the vice president of the European Parliament, Pina Picierno, the vice president of the Regional Council of Campania Loredana Raia and Father Fortunato. The evening ends with music with a concert by singer-songwriter Teresa De Sio.

This is an edition that is totally “in pink”, the first as mayor for Ivana Bottone who has supervised its organization since the early years. “Born in the aftermath of the attack on the Twin Towers to commemorate the victims and to raise awareness of the values ​​of brotherhood and dialogue, over the years Scala incontra New York has also sought to broaden and adapt its proposal to current affairs, culture and society issues. – explains the mayor – .
