"Many citizens and residents have contacted us in recent days because they're worried that San Gregorio Armeno, too, risks losing its role as a hub for Neapolitan nativity scene craftsmanship and trade, thus losing another of the region's great assets."
This was said by the president of the Botteghe di San Gregorio Armeno, Vincenzo Capuano, on behalf of all the nativity scene artisans and merchants.
We recognize Scaturchio as a Neapolitan excellence and a defender of the art of our pastry making—another great source of pride—but we invite them precisely for this reason to understand that San Gregorio Armeno is the last bastion of Neapolitan craftsmanship, a small street that has become a showcase of Naples to the world.

It would be a real shame if we lost another such great wealth, as happened with the streets of books, musical instruments, etc. Precisely for this reason we have launched a petition, at the request of citizens and merchants, to the Municipality of Naples, to block the opening of all food establishments and other species, not related to the Neapolitan nativity scene.
We would be the first to support the famous Neapolitan pastry shop, which offers a lot of work to our kids, and if it opened in the areas adjacent to the Via dei Presepi, which must remain as such. We already know of other food shops that want to open in San Gregorio Armeno.
On July 20th we were protected by resolution 246 of the Municipality of Naples, with the aim of avoiding yet another loss of identity and culture, in a historical period in which where places of culture close, only food shops open”, concludes Vincenzo Capuano
