“I want a team that has courage.” Andrea Soncin, in his first official outing as Technical Commissioner of the National women's team, insists on this concept several times: eight days after the debut in Nations League against Switzerland and after a week of study and technical meetings with his staff, the first of the guidelines of theItaly that the former coach of the Venice he gave regards to the attitude on the pitch.

The first call-ups of the era soncin, in view of the matches scheduled for Friday 22nd San Cock against Switzerland and Tuesday 26th Castel di Sangro against Spain, will be made official tomorrow, Friday 15th. In the words of soncin, in addition to expressing the concept of courage, the emotion for the call from the Federation shines through.

“I absolutely have to thank the president and the FIGC for this great opportunity that they are giving me. – admits Soncin –. The feelings are a mix of incredible joy and pride: today is an important day for the entire women's movement and I'm proud to be part of it. When the National team calls, there's no time to think: you just accept. Now, however, we need to work to give answers to the entire movement, but on my part there was all the enthusiasm to get to know in depth a reality that I only knew from the outside. They were days of work, of attention, of contacts, because the National team collects all the work of the clubs".

Soncin takes office at a difficult time for the national team, which is coming off the double disappointment of elimination in the group stages of the European Championship and the World Cup. “There are no preclusions for any female footballer – he admits -. I want to evaluate everyone, I was asked to play football and football is evaluated by what you do on the pitch. My concern in these 10 days has been to evaluate everything with my staff, but the message must be clear: there will be attention towards everyone, I expect answers from the pitch”.

Not only courage, but also confidence: "I think there is potential to develop. We will face strong teams, but this does not mean that we do not have the qualities to cause them problems. We have many experienced and young girls, who have the possibility to express technical and tactical concepts: I believe, however, that above all we need confidence to show courage against teams that on paper are stronger than us".

He will be there alongside Soncin Vivian Slaves, technical assistant with the role of vice, who boasts a long experience as a footballer (44 appearances in the national team) and subsequently as a federal coach. Together with Schiavi there is also Alessandro Turone, technical assistant who has been working with the Ct since 2021, after experiences as assistant coach with Pro Vercelli, Livorno, Avellino and Padova.

The athletic trainers will be Cristian Savoia, who has been with Club Italia since 2016 as a physiologist in the Performance and Research Area and has been in the staff of the Women's National Team since April 2019, and Mattia Toffolutti, who comes from the youth teams of the Lega Nazionale Dilettanti, in addition to having taught in the courses for coaches of the Technical Sector on “Training Theory and Methodology”.

Giuseppe Mammoliti is the new goalkeeping coach, also already in Soncin's staff in recent years, after having coached Juventus Women for 6 years and previously the youth teams of Torino. Guido Didona will be the match analyst, a role he held at Trapani and Bari and in the last 6 years at Hellas Verona, after having previously been assistant coach at Siena and Perugia.
