Sophia Loren accidentally fell yesterday in her home in Geneva.
Taken to the hospital for tests, the actress was diagnosed with hip fractures. Sophia underwent successful surgery this afternoon and will now undergo a short recovery period, followed by a full rehabilitation program.
This was announced by the press office of the restaurant that bears her name, which the actress was due to open next Tuesday in Bari, the fourth in Italy after Milan, Florence, and Fiumicino.

"Sophia Loren is accompanied by her two sons, Edoardo and Carlo," the statement continues. The actress was also supposed to receive honorary citizenship at the Bari event.
"Fortunately, everything went well, and the lady will be back with us very soon," the statement read.
