A group of youths caused panic in San Felice Circeo, a seaside resort in the province of Latina, by firing several shots from an air rifle from a low-level car, injuring seven people.
Following this violent act, the Carabinieri intervened, starting a chase that led to the arrest of two adults and the reporting of two other minors involved. A fifth suspect managed to escape.
Authorities were alerted by numerous reports to the company's operations center, which described a car from which the occupants had opened fire with an air rifle, hitting passers-by and young people present in the premises in the area.
Some of the victims suffered significant injuries, but fortunately the danger of worse consequences was averted. The compressed air bullets hit people in the shoulders, neck and ears. The seven injured suffered injuries that will require seven to ten days to heal.
During the search of the car, the carabinieri found the weapon used in the robberies, a multipurpose knife, several metal bullets and two grams of cocaine. The young men are accused of violence and aggravated injuries for abject and futile reasons, including the use of weapons.
The two eldest members of the group, one of whom was already known to the authorities, were arrested and placed under house arrest pending a summary trial by order of the Latina Prosecutor's Office, while the other two minors were reported.
