It appears that the motive for the murder of Franca Marasco, owner of the tobacco shop on Via Marchese de Rosa in Foggia, was not attempted robbery. She was stabbed to death on Monday, August 28th, in her shop.
The Carabinieri interrogated a North African man of about 40 years old all night, suspected of being the material author of the crime. The man was traced to Naples, where he had most likely taken refuge after committing the crime.
The Carabinieri identified the man thanks to the viewing of some surveillance camera recordings. The woman's body was found by a passerby on Monday morning, lying in a puddle of blood. The passerby immediately raised the alarm.
Investigators suspect that the tobacconist's murder was not an attempted robbery. After the crime, the man fled without taking anything from the store's cash register, but only took the victim's cell phone.
The authorities are also trying to investigate and verify some “rumors” according to which the tobacconist had been subjected to pressure related to her professional activity.
