The first funeral home in the Vesuvian area opens. The “Casa Funeraria Vesuviana” has been operating in Terzigno since the beginning of September.
An idea of theSavarese Funeral Organization, the Vesuviana Funeral Home is a place of commemoration of the deceased and comfort for his loved ones. The Vesuvian Funeral Home It is a complete facility for the care of the deceased: from taratopraxic and aesthetic preparation to conservation for prolonged periods.
The taratopraxic preparation, essential for the display of the body in the funeral chapel, is carried out by specialized personnel in the laboratory of the structure. The body is then displayed in one of the four rooms.
Four rooms for funeral receptions
Comfortable rooms where the family of the deceased can receive all the people who want to pay homage to the dear departed. The Farewell Room is also an innovative idea: a dedicated room where families and friends can remember their loved one. Naturally, the Funeral Home has opening hours to the public, while guaranteeing the privacy of the family of the deceased.
"The introduction of funeral homes was a turning point for the sector – explains Giovanni savarese, owner of the Savarese Funeral Organization – With the funeral home, relatives and friends have at their disposal comfortable spaces as if they were at their own home where they can venerate their loved one until the burial or cremation.
In fact, by relying on the Funeral Home, the family chooses to live the vigil at the body in a private manner, thus avoiding long and excruciating stops in aseptic environments such as mortuaries.

The body is treated aesthetically before being displayed
"With the new regulations," Savarese explains, "the deceased can immediately enter the funeral home, bypassing the mortuary. Naturally, we've tried to create a welcoming environment for the families as well, to make the wake as stressful as possible."
"The treatments that are carried out in our facility – Savarese continues – of aesthetics and thanatopraxy, are fundamental for the exposure of the body. Already starting from the minutes immediately following death, the body undergoes changes and deformations.
Here, the body is treated and cared for in such a way that it can be displayed: from the care of the body to the constant temperature of the rooms."
Precisely for the care and conservation of the body, thanatopraxy is essential. This practice delays decomposition by a few weeks, thus ensuring the conservation of the body (for various reasons, some bodies require more days for burial, ed.) for a few weeks.
One of the 4 rooms is devoid of religious symbols
Finally, turning to the religious aspect, Giovanni Savarese was careful to satisfy all religious needs: "Of the four rooms," Savarese concludes, "one is devoid of religious symbols." No symbols of Christianity are present in any of the four rooms where atheists or believers of other religions can choose to attend.
