The cultural project 'Affabulazione', promoted by the Municipality and financed by the National Fund for Entertainment of the Directorate General Entertainment of the Ministry of Culture, was presented today in Naples. After last year's experience, the project returns with the title 'Expressions of Polycentric Naples'.
The broad program of events, which involves six municipalities and celebrates great figures in various ways linked to Naples from Pino Daniele to Totò, Enrico Caruso, Dacia Maraini, Pier Paolo Pasolini, Aldo Masullo, was illustrated at Palazzo Cavalcanti by Sergio Locoratolo, coordinator of Cultural Policies of the Municipality of Naples and Andrea Mazzucchi, advisor to the mayor of Naples on Libraries and Integrated Cultural Programming.
“Culture is not the only flower in the garden of beauty. But it is what we all have the obligation to cultivate. To care for, to look after. In every place, in every nook and cranny, in every gleaning. This is the meaning of Affabulazione, the performance arts festival organized and promoted by the Municipality of Naples with the resources of the National Fund for Entertainment”.
Thus Locoratolo who then continues: “nineteen projects, 119 live shows, 57 workshops, all free, many of which are dedicated to the great personalities of Neapolitan culture”.
"It's the culture – the coordinator's words – which penetrates and branches out throughout the city, especially in those which are still defined as suburbs, but which are instead the "other centres" in Naples.
In a multipolar and polycentric vision of the city, which has always been the one hoped for and desired by Mayor Gaetano Manfredi. And the presence of the laboratories, which involve the passions and enthusiasm of hundreds of children and young people, is the plastic representation of the response, certainly not the only one, that culture must offer against every act of oppression and violence”.
“Fable telling – explains Mazzucchi – is following its natural path of evolution, configuring itself as a hotbed of ideas, suggestions and above all experiments that, after having created connections between and with the suburbs giving life to a single large cultural system, aims this year to explore the history, themes, faces and expressions of NAPLES. It is a container that, through the narration of cultural capital, can potentially generate a collective value of great impact also on the social and economic dynamics of the city". Nineteen proposed projects that show "the creativity and cultural heterogeneity of the territory but also - as stated in a note from the organizers - the will and the ability to follow up on reviews created specifically for Affabulazione and of which the second edition is now coming".
The program includes more than 100 shows, reviews and workshops that will take place in places already involved in the last edition of Affabulazione, such as the NEST Theater, the Asterix Center and the Officine San Carlo; in unusual places, such as the Salvia prison (Poggioreale), the WWF oasis of the Astroni crater and the Porta del Parco Auditorium in Bagnoli; and, again, churches, parks, gardens and theaters. Among the other artists involved, Paolo Caiazzo, Gian Maria Cervo, Vincenzo Comunale, Francesco Di Bella, Francesco Di Leva, Fundacion Epica La Fura dels Baus, Gaetano Di Vaio, Carlo Faiello, Lucariello, PeppOh, Patrizio Rispo, Gino Rivieccio, Francesca Rondinella, Elisabetta Serio, Peppe Servillo, Daniele Sepe, Rafael Spregelburd, Emilia Zamuner, Gianni Valentino and Lello Tramma (Totò Poetry Culture) will take part in the projects.
