Reviews "completely false" provided by Uefa in relation to the independent investigation into the final of Champions League 2022 played at the Stade de France. It is the accusation that, according to the "Guardian", moved the then UEFA chief operating officer, Sharon Burkhalter-Lau, second in command in planning for the final between Liverpool e Real Madrid.

That evening, tragedy nearly struck, with street fighting and fans blocked in front of the gates, so much so that the start of the match was delayed by about forty minutes.

The independent investigation launched by UEFA concluded that responsibility lay with the events unit led by Burkhalter-Lau, not the security unit, which since 2021 has been headed by Zeljko Pavlica, a close friend of Aleksander Ceferin.

But in letters sent to UEFA's general secretary, Theodore Theodoridis, and three other senior officials, seen by the "Guardian", Burkhalter-Lau rejected as "completely false" UEFA's evidence supports the claim that Ceferin wanted to protect his friend. It was not the unit led by Burkhalter-Lau that excluded Pavlica and her team from the final planning, as the investigation revealed, but rather the security unit led by Ceferin's friend that deserted the meetings and withheld information that would have been crucial to preventing the incidents.
