Access to the church of Gesu' Nuovo in Naples has been closed, where the funeral of Giovanbattista Cutolo, the 24-year-old musician killed last Thursday by a 17-year-old, is about to begin.
The 700 seats are all occupied and several hundred people have gathered in the side aisles and at the back of the church.
After Sangiuliano, the Minister of the Interior, Matteo Piantedosi, also arrived, who offered his condolences to the family and hugged Giovanbattista's mother, Daniela Di Maggio, with whom he spoke for a few minutes. With him also the prefect Claudio Palomba, while previously the benches reserved for the authorities had also been occupied by the mayor Gaetano Manfredi, the vice president of the Chamber, Sergio Costa, the undersecretary Pina Castello and the former Minister of Health, Roberto Speranza.
In front of the altar there are wreaths and banners of the Municipality, the Region and the Metropolitan City. Leaning against the balustrade of the main altar there is a banner with the words 'Teatro San Carlo Napoli'.
