On September 7, 2023, at 19:45 p.m., an earthquake of magnitude 3.8 was recorded by the National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology (INGV) in the Campi Flegrei area, in Campania. The epicenter of the earthquake was located about 4 kilometers from Pozzuoli and 10 kilometers from Naples.
The shock was felt throughout the city of Naples and in some areas of the province. No damage to people or things was reported.
The shock was filmed live during the evening edition of TGR Campania. The news anchor, Alessandro Di Liegro, was forced to interrupt the program momentarily to give the news of the earthquake.
The earthquake occurred in an area known for its volcanic activity. Campi Flegrei is an active volcano, located north of Naples. The area is characterized by frequent earthquakes, even of strong intensity.
Following the earthquake, the Civil Protection carried out checks throughout the area to verify any damage.
