The Councillor for Public Works of Afragola, Giuseppe Catalano (Lega), resigned after publishing a photo on Instagram in which he appears together with Angelo Moccia, son of the clan leader Antonio Moccia, sentenced in the first instance to 24 years last July for having led the clan of the same name for six years.
This episode has unleashed a political storm in the Municipality of Afragola, with discontent even within the majority. The opposition has asked for the intervention of the access commission and the prefect, claiming that the photo was published to force Catalano's resignation.
At the same time, the majority is pressuring Mayor Pannone to gain greater visibility in the council, where the Undersecretary to the Presidency of the Council of Ministers, Pina Castiello, also sits as Deputy Mayor.
To further complicate the situation, in the last few hours Claudia Carrieri, Councilor for Personnel, announced her resignation for personal reasons.
The story came to light after two journalistic investigations in the newspapers Il Domani and Cronache di Napoli.
