RIDICULOUS – A monologue, by and with Annamaria Troisi, freely inspired by Dostoevsky's "The Dream of a Ridiculous Man". It is the story of a prostitute, the story of a woman and her pain, a silent pain, cleverly hidden from the eyes of a world that sees and pretends not to see. A world ready to judge without asking too many questions, without trying to go beyond the image, beyond the stereotype, a tired world, accustomed to spitting out sentences and detaching itself from what only apparently does not concern it with shocking indifference. RIDICULOUS is a woman who is always hungry, hungry for everything she lacks. Hungry for love, she searches in the emptiness of her existence for a reason to live and despite being weighed down by a deep sense of inadequacy and shame, she has the courage to ask herself, with extreme candor and sincerity, universal questions, which touch each of us. The encounter with the “other” will be lifesaving and the discovery that a different look at the world is possible, a look free from fear and prejudice and where the word love reaches its highest meaning. To restore truth and concreteness to this character so incredibly fragile and brutal in his complexity, I chose to use Neapolitan and in some passages to rely on the evocative power of Erich Fried and Alda Merini.

You are the end of the worldor (Literally) - Two women interact with each other and with a series of videos projected behind them. They depict a caricature of our world: supermarkets overflowing with beef where our beloved dogs are forbidden; working to pay doctors who tell us we should work less, and yoga classes to help us with stress; in India, the birthplace of yoga, nearly one hundred rapes are reported every day; in Italy, we campaign for separate waste collection and against violence against women. The portrait they paint of the world is comically absurd, and absurdly real. Little by little, a clear thought emerges: the relationship between humans and nature, like the relationship between humans themselves, is toxic, flawed. But we can cure it. The secret is to unlearn the idea of domination, and rethink our hierarchies as a collective. You're the End of the World (Literally) is a multidisciplinary performance that combines spoken word, body, and video to explore ecofeminist thought, which holds that there is a correlation between the degradation of nature and the subordination of women. Part performance art, part satire, this project aims to explore the origins of ecofeminism and the stories it has to tell us. Can we reimagine how we interact with the world around us? Are there cultures that have already done so? Can we learn before we erase ourselves?
