Panyllo Bakery in Messina has set a new world record for the world's largest arancini. The competition took place last night in Piazza Duomo, in the presence of Lorenzo Veltri, a Guinness World Records judge.
The arancini, which reached a weight of 56,200 kg, measured 60 cm in height and 55 cm in diameter, largely surpassed the previous record of 32,7 kg achieved in 2019 in Catania.
The preparation of the arancini was entrusted to Stefano and Davide Ferro, owners of the bakery. The recipe called for 100 kg of rice, 20 kg of ragù, 20 kg of mozzarella, 10 kg of peas, and 10 kg of breadcrumbs.
The cooking took place in a large pot specially made for the occasion.
