“Words, words, words, which are not followed up. We want to intervene as soon as possible on the condition of the cemetery of Aversa, which is in a state that is nothing short of pitiful”.
The speakers are the vice president of the Italian Association of Relatives and Victims of the Road Odv and of the Unitary Association of Relatives and Victims of the Road Odv, Biagio Ciaramella, and the spokesperson of the association "To the citizens of Aversa for the rebirth of the cemetery", Nicola Nardi, who lash out against the councilor with responsibility for the Cemetery, Francesco Sagliocco.
It all started with the complaint to the Carabinieri in May 2021, which was followed by the collection of signatures outside the cemetery in October of the same year, which reached 700 signatures. On May 11, 2023, document number 27443 was then registered, with a request for urgent intervention at the Aversa cemetery, brought to the attention of the mayor, the cemetery councilor, the technical director of the cemetery and the local police command.
The text highlighted the following: "For some time, we have been reporting a lack of maintenance of the asphalt over the burial niches and the safety of the platforms over them at the Aversa cemetery. This situation poses a risk to the public and private safety of those who visit the cemetery to visit their loved ones.
The water flowing from the niches and ending up on the external lighting systems causes damage to the existing electrical system (which was renovated about a year ago).

Added to these problems is the fact that the sewers are blocked by falling pine needles and the non-compliant iron stairs are not cleaned because they lack wheels". To this complaint, the public works area of the municipality of Aversa, with a document signed by the manager, Eng. Raffaele Serpico, sent, via email, a rather singular response.
Although attention was paid to the issues listed, the document states: With reference to the subject matter, it is stated that this Department operates within the limits of the funds allocated to it by the Municipal Budget. For the sake of completeness, it is noted that with Resolution No. 273 of June 30.06.2023, XNUMX, the Municipal Council approved the technical and economic feasibility project relating to the construction of new burial niches and ossuaries.
This project has been included in the Three-Year Public Works Program, adopted by the City Council with Resolution No. 205 of May 11.05.2023, XNUMX, which will be approved together with the aforementioned Budget Forecast. Once the latter has been approved, the executive planning and construction of the aforementioned works and anything else necessary can begin, consistent with the resources allocated in the same Budget.
In this regard, Biagio Ciaramella and Nicola Nardi have made their disapproval known: “The municipality of Aversa, as can be learned from the signs displayed at the entrance to the cemetery, has specified that the payment for the maintenance of the municipal niches and the votive lamp fee, relating to the year 2023, is expected for the period between September 18 and December 20.
Nothing to object to, except for the fact that the municipality, in full compliance with the law, demands payments on time; when, instead, the associations and the committee report problems to the competent bodies, the municipality avoids the confrontation and does not provide any type of response to the citizens. We invite the judiciary to investigate the destination of the funds claimed by the body. As regards the reporting of expenses, we are equipping ourselves for adequate controls to report to the appropriate parties. Ready to undertake legal proceedings where necessary”.
