“From the meeting at the prefecture, the idea clearly emerged that the State, in terms of legality, regularity and control and protection of the territory, will not retreat one millimetre”.

This was stated by the president of the parliamentary commission of inquiry into the conditions and state of degradation of cities and their suburbs, Alessandro Battilocchio, at the end of the meeting with the prefect of Napoli, Claudio Palomba.

"We have made a comprehensive picture of the situation in Naples and the province - he explains - especially in terms of security and legality. The prefect has informed us of the interventions underway and we have focused on the housing emergency, on the social hardship, on the Municipalities that have been dissolved, including Caivano, and on some interventions underway, in particular the 'high impact' operations".

The commission's tour of Campania began this morning around 10, when the parliamentarians met with the mayor of Naples and the Metropolitan City, Gaetano Manfredi. The day's program now includes a visit to Scampia and, finally, a stop in Caivano, where the commission will meet the extraordinary commissioners for the management of the Municipality and the parish priest of the Green Park, Don Maurizio Patriciello.
