Three days of screenings, meetings and debates immersed in the beauty of the Bourbon Complex of Fusaro.

The first edition of FAB! - Archaeology Festival of bacoli, an international film and cross-media festival, created with the aim of promoting the historical and naturalistic heritage of the Phlegraean Fields, especially appealing to younger audiences.

"We really wanted this event in Bacoli, a city with such important historical and cultural attractions. And we're delighted with the turnout of schools that packed the venue because we want to appeal to younger audiences, because we believe that a child who appreciates the beauty of their surroundings from an early age will become a better citizen," commented artistic director Nicola Barile.

Organized by Giovanni Parisi and Giovanni Calvino for TILE Storytellers, with the support of the Campania Region and the Fondazione Film Commission Regione Campania, FAB! saw two juries evaluate the competing works, including those from France, Iran, Spain, and Turkey, selected by Dario Di Blasi. For its compelling content, meticulous cinematography, and impeccable direction, Matthieu Pradinau's "Ocean one k" won the Jury Prize.

The audience award went to "The Enchanting Lucrezia Borgia" by Marco Melluso and Diego Schiavo.

"We created a way for younger people to get acquainted with archaeology. Through films, some of which were animated, they became curious about the subject, and we hope that in the future some of them will become directors or documentary filmmakers," the organizers explain.

Among the initiatives are a comic book exhibition dedicated to Pliny the Elder on the occasion of the 2th anniversary of his birth, round tables with experts in the field and special screenings of "Palmyra, the Wonder of the Desert - Journey to the UNESCO Sites," a documentary by Federico Fazzuoli and Elisa Greco, "Acquateam - Adventures in the Sea," a cartoon special produced by Graffiti and RAI Kids, which features marine biologist Mariasole Bianco transformed into a cartoon, and "Il Garum," produced in collaboration with the Centre Jean Bérard.

The morning screenings were also livestreamed at Santobono and Pausilipon hospitals. "This allowed the young patients to participate in the event. This was very important to us because it creates a bridge of normalcy during which children continue to be part of their world even during the difficult time of hospitalization," explained Emanuela Capuano, director of the SOS Supporters Foundation at Santobono ETS Hospital.

Guests at the first edition include actress Stefania Casini, acclaimed in Bertolucci's "Novecento"; actor Patrizio Rispo; producers Marco Melluso and Antonio Perez; Maurizio Gemma, Director of the Campania Region Film Commission; Sergio Cosentini, Director of the Centro Ittico Campano; Alessandro Manna of the Royal District; and Josi Della Ragione, Mayor of Bacoli. Event partners include the Mann - National Archaeological Museum of Naples, the Phlegraean Fields Archaeological Park, the Darwin-Dohrn Museum, the Superintendency of the Metropolitan Area of Naples, the EAV (National Archaeological Park of Fusaro), the Santobono Pausilipon Foundation, the Royal District of the Royal Bourbon Sites, the Aenea Association, the Baia Underwater Park, the Pro Loco of Bacoli, and Bacoli.it.
