It was installed, along with thirteen others, just yesterday morning. But just 24 hours later, the "literary bench" dedicated to Maradona was defaced, sparking controversy on social media.
It happened to Giugliano where yesterday morning Mayor Nicola Pirozzi, completing a project started by former councilor Marilisa Taglialatela Scafati, inaugurated the 14 benches, some of which were also placed in Licola.

Social media went wild: "The author is not a Napoli fan."
"He's not a Napoli fan," wrote one Facebook profile. He's certainly not a 'city fan' either, given that the benches are one of the few pieces of street furniture installed in the city in recent years.
"Now, dear citizens, it's up to you, it's up to us, to preserve every single place, every single service, every single project we're building. It's illogical, impossible, it's a distorted vision," the mayor wrote yesterday on social media, outlining the initiative.
