Survivors describe moments of fear during the fire. Adriana Caballero, a twenty-year-old who was celebrating her birthday at the nightclub, described the panic and the smoke that engulfed the place. Others testified to the difficulty of finding an exit, given the venue's many dark corridors.
During the investigation, it emerged that about ten of the thirteen bodies found in the nightclub were located in the private area, the venue's private party area, on the first floor. The victims were found mostly far from the emergency staircase.
Some witnesses claim they never saw a marked emergency exit in the building. The investigation to determine who was responsible is still ongoing, according to the mayor. The community is still in shock over this tragedy that struck the city of Murcia.
