A 27-year-old man was sentenced to ten years in prison for raping his eleven-year-old neighbor. The girl became pregnant and gave birth to a boy, who is now in foster care.
The events date back to December 2021, when the girl's parents took her to the hospital for severe abdominal pain. An ultrasound revealed that the little girl was pregnant.
The girl was interviewed in a protected hearing with the participation of a psychologist. She said that the young man, whom she knew, had persuaded her to go with him to a secluded place, where he raped her on two separate occasions.
Subsequent investigations led to a DNA comparison, which established unequivocally that the 27-year-old is the child's father.
The baby was born in a scheduled delivery in the summer of 2022. The girl was placed in a protected community, while foster care procedures have begun for the newborn.
The eleven-year-old, assisted in court by attorney Erminia Viganò, has reportedly begun to reconnect with her parents thanks to the help of social services. In time, if she wishes, she will be able to see her child again, who is in temporary foster care.
The sentence
The sentence given to the 27-year-old is also higher than that requested by the public prosecutor to the investigating judge of Busto Arsizio, which had stopped at nine years and 8 months.

Attorney Erminia Viganò, who represented the girl in court, commented on the sentence: "We are satisfied with the judge's decision, which recognized the seriousness of the facts and the need to severely punish the perpetrator of the abuse.
