Critical issues in waste management but also sustainable development, agriculture, health and technological innovation. These are some of the topics that will be discussed at the International Polieco Forum on the Economy of Waste that will be held in Napoli, at the Renaissance Hotel Mediterraneo, on October 6th and 7th.
The title chosen for the 15th edition of the Forum on the Economy of Waste, promoted by the Consorzio Polieco, is 'Environmental Sick' and immediately gives the sense of the discussion that will involve politicians, technicians, magistrates, entrepreneurs and doctors. An urgent commitment because there is not only the 'illness' understood as blind passion but also that of the body that suffers damage from environmental pollution and then there is the disease of bureaucracy that often puts the brakes on remediation.
The program was presented during the press conference held today in Naples, in the conference room of the Order of Journalists of Campania. The president and general director of Polieco, Enrico Bobbio and Claudia Salvestrini, underlined the need to raise the level of attention. "The true circular economy for environmental protection is still very far away and in the meantime - said Salvestrini - we find ourselves struggling with regulatory obstacles, lack of recycling plants, illicit waste trafficking and negative impacts on the economy and public health".
“To reach concrete solutions – Bobbio remarked – everyone’s help is needed, from the laborer to the intellectual, no one can feel exempt”.

“In the territories most exposed to incorrect waste management we have a marked decline in fertility”, explained Luigi Montano, uroandrologist of the ASL Salerno, launching a precise alarm that will be more detailed on Friday 6 October in the panel entitled 'Agriculture, environment and health'. In fact, the results of a first biomonitoring study will be presented that has highlighted important alterations in the production system starting from seminal fluid. The correlation between health and pollution rates has already been traced in various parts of Italy and a mapping of the analyses performed will be provided at the Polieco Forum.
Both days - October 6 from 14:19.30 p.m. to 7:9 p.m. and October 13 from 10:XNUMX a.m. to XNUMX:XNUMX p.m. - are recognized by the Order of Journalists with XNUMX total training credits. "Correct information is also made of analysis and the Forum promoted by Polieco gives the opportunity to understand in detail the merits and critical points of waste management in some ways still very much an emergency", explained the president of the journalists of Campania Ottavio Lucarelli, announcing that this year the Legality Commission of the Order is also supporting the Forum as an investigative information campaign.
Among the new features is also the accreditation of the Polieco Forum as a training course for members of the Order of Architects PPC of Naples and the province. The use of plastic in design and architectural planning will be discussed in two different panels scheduled for both Friday afternoon and Saturday morning. “Waste is certainly a resource that can make a difference already at the design stage. It is possible to create structures and equipment with recycled plastics, we just need to increase awareness on the topic,” said architect Tiziana D'Aniello.
The second day of the Forum will open with a session dedicated to national and international waste trafficking, which will discuss new export destinations and new 'Lands of Fire'. The work will close with a panel on 'Companies between critical issues and opportunities', which will aim to highlight the problems of the recycling sector but also the proposals for sustainable growth from the world of research and innovation.
