The Head of State, Sergio Mattarella, together with his daughter Laura, was in Naples this morning, where he had an official lunch with the Finnish President, Sauli Niniisto, who is in the Campania capital for a visit to the NATO facilities in Lago Patria.
The culinary meeting was held at Villa Rosebery, the Neapolitan presidential residence in Posillipo, and was also attended by Niniisto's wife, Jenni Haukio, who instead visited the National Archaeological Museum.
Finnish President Sauli Niinistö visited NATO headquarters in Naples this morning, meeting with the commander of the Allied Joint Force, Admiral Stuart Munsch, and other staff members.
“It was a pleasure to visit JFC Naples today and learn more about its operations. NATO’s 360-degree approach is fundamental to the security of the entire Alliance,” Niinistö said, on his first visit to NATO’s Naples headquarters since Finland became the 31st Allied country last April.
“It was an honor,” said Admiral Munsch, “to host the president of our new ally here in Naples; we had the opportunity to discuss the 360-degree NATO overview” in Europe, Africa and the Middle East. Finland is an important ally in the security of the NATO Alliance and participates in multiple missions supervised by JFC Naples, in particular the Kosovo Force and the NATO Mission Iraq”.
