After being locked in a room for hours and repeatedly beaten by her partner, she managed to escape and call the Carabinieri.
It happened last night in Torre di Pescopagano where a 49-year-old woman, after reaching the emergency room of the Pineta Grande clinic in Castel Volturno exhausted, called “112” asking for help and reporting what she had experienced.
The woman, found to be suffering from lesions in various parts of her body with a prognosis of 15 days, said she had managed to escape by taking advantage of a moment of distraction from her partner who, in the late afternoon, had locked her in a room, threatening her with a machete and beaten repeatedly.
The victim also reported that the man was not new to such violent behavior and that it had been repeated for some time.
The immediate intervention at the reported house by two patrols of the Carabinieri of the Operational and Radiomobile Unit of the Territorial Department of Mondragone and the local station allowed the attacker to be stopped, still in the house and in possession of the machete.
The man, a 29 year old Gambian irregular in the national territory and in Italy without a fixed abode, was arrested and taken to the Santa Maria Capua Vetere prison, at the disposal of the competent judicial authority. He will have to answer for kidnapping and mistreatment in the family.
