After fourteen years dedicated to the study of singing and music, nine of which were spent writing and releasing singles that have captivated audiences and critics, the brilliant 2000-born Salento singer-songwriter Ester Del Popolo returns to digital stores with her long-awaited debut album, “Mi Presento” (Sonos Music Records), an evocative 10-step journey through the colors that have shaped and continue to define the artistic rainbow of one of the most promising talents on the current Italian female singer-songwriter scene.
Surrounded by refined sonic nuances of ethnic, electronic, and pop-rock influences, Ester expresses her thoughts in a highly contemporary concept that, in perfect symbiosis with her powerful and incisive vocals, tugs at every heartstring, tackling deeply emotionally charged themes: from physical and psychological violence to the Russian-Ukrainian conflict, through the complex relationship of today's youth with the future—driven by the anxiety and fear of growing up in a still overly individualistic society—to arrive at reflections on death, the freedom to love, and the fears and consequences that accompany toxic and dysfunctional relationships.
The choice of the title, “Mi Presento”, encapsulates the artist's desire to reveal herself to the world with absolute truth and naturalness, without filters and without masks, through 10 chapters of a strongly autobiographical narration that reveals a unique and original stylistic figure, elegant, exciting and constantly evolving.
But that's not all; "Mi Presento" is also a mantra, a hymn to our wonderful peculiarities, a treasure chest of soul and music in which to preserve our own personal microcosm. An inner journey that invites us to say, "Listen to me," to rediscover the sweet lightness that dwells within us and, just like the "Milk of Heaven," can flow and dedicate "Time for the Stars," for those dreams that, in a 'Breath' of "Earth," find the "Wings" that allow them and us to rise and fly, through and beyond the storms, within and beyond that "Pain that hurts us," but at the same time allows us to grow, day after day, song after song.
Preceded by the singles “Terra” – a song presented on Rai 2 at Rosario Fiorello's Viva il VideoBox – and “Il dolore che ci fa” – a release that addresses the delicate issue of the war in Ukraine – “Mi Presento” reconfirms not only Ester's impeccable vocal skills, but also and above all a sensitivity and depth of soul worthy of the greatest international singer-songwriters.
The album will be presented live on October 14th at 21.30:2000 pm at the ExpoXNUMX trade fair event that will be held in Miggiano (LE) and during which it will be possible to buy physical copies. At the opening of the evening, Don Antonio Coluccia will speak, a priest from Salento who has been fighting against all forms of crime for years and who fights to defend, help and "keep the men and women of tomorrow off the streets" and to whom Ester, always moved by the principles of freedom, equality and stopping violence, has decided to entrust part of the proceeds from the sale of the evening.
“Mi Presento” – The album told by the artist:
Earth: A metaphorical exploration of constant anxiety and psychological distress. Despite feeling trapped and suffocated, the heart continues to beat, and the spirit yearns for emotional release.
Time for the Stars: This song is a reflection on the frenetic life that leaves no room for dreams and prevents us from living in the present. "We are light years away from me, you, now."
Let me introduce myself: with a folk-flavoured arrangement, this song represents the introduction and essence of me and this full-length project of mine.
It might interest you
My Time: An exploration of the challenges of growing up and accepting the changes that life imposes on us.
Soffio: This is a provocative piece, a challenge to those who take pleasure in the suffering of others to feed their own ego. A challenge also to those who judge and mock without trying to understand or assist those in difficulty.
The Pain It Causes Us: a moving depiction of the inner emptiness and pain caused by all forms of violence. I chose to address Russia's invasion of Ukraine because it truly shocked me. Musically, the song is accompanied by rich orchestral arrangements.
Oranges Were Born: A heartfelt dedication to an important figure in my life, begging for his presence and guidance despite the physical distance. This song evokes touching memories, inspiring a feeling of nostalgia.
Listen to Me: explores a passionate love, in which the woman takes control of the psychophysical dynamics of the relationship.
Milk of Heaven: a love song…platonic.
Ali: the closing track of the album narrates a deep and extraordinary love, capable of suspending time, lifting the spirit to unknown heights, erasing worries and anxieties, making those who experience it feel free and light.
With "Mi Presento," Ester Del Popolo opens her heart and soul, inviting us to participate in an extraordinary musical watercolor. This album is a tribute to uniqueness, a gem of emotion and melodies, an authentic, profound, and moving work that reaffirms Ester as one of the most promising singer-songwriters on the contemporary Italian scene.
