Daniela Di Maggio, the mother of Giovanbattista Cutolo, the 24-year-old musician killed in Naples on August 31, returned to Palazzo Chigi today after meeting with Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni on September 7.

Today, Di Maggio was received by the Undersecretary to the Presidency of the Council, Alfredo Mantovano, the Undersecretary of Justice, Andrea Ostellari, and Antonio Sangermano, head of the Department for Juvenile and Community Justice.

"They promised me that the sentence for my son's killer, as for all other minors who commit heinous crimes, will definitely be served, and it won't be one that leaves them behind after a few years."

Daniela Di Maggio said this at the end of a meeting at Palazzo Chigi with the Undersecretary to the Presidency of the Council, Alfredo Mantovano.

The government, Di Maggio added, reiterated its commitment during the meeting to a law that will bear Giovanbattista's name.

Several hundred people, including many young people, attended the demonstration in Rome for Giovanbattista Cutolo and all the innocent victims of crime. The march was also attended by Francesco Emilio Borrelli, MP for the Green-Left Alliance, and Father Antonio Coluccia.

"Gio Giò was killed at the end of August by a 15-year-old for absurd and trivial reasons. The killer pulled out a gun and fired after a fight broke out in a sandwich shop that Giovanbattista hadn't even attended.

His family organized this demonstration in Rome to demand both justice and the government's attention to this unstoppable wave of crime. "Enough deaths, enough bloodshed, enough impunity and lenient sentences. We need new laws, we need certainty of punishment," Borrelli said in a statement.
