10 months have passed since the fire, which broke out on December 23, 2022, which burned down the Sigma on Via Colonnello Carlo Lahalle.
Last July, the seals were removed from the supermarket that had been seized to allow the judiciary to proceed with the investigation.
The release of the area should have allowed for the clean-up operations that began but were then abruptly interrupted.
As some residents told the Green-left alliance MP Francesco Emilio Borrelli, it seems that the cleanup has come to a halt due to lack of funds:
“After a week of cleanup, the supermarket managers blocked the business and declared that they currently lack the funds and resources to continue it.

It also seems that the last company broke a water pipe, and we have stagnant water that stinks even more. Finally, the supermarket appears to be open from the outside, so mice are also coming out. A few nights ago, a child found the little critter on his feet.”
“The situation has been dragging on for too long. It's been going on like this for 10 months. Now the owners have to get moving, public health is at risk. And yet when we participated in the citizens' flash mob in May, the owner told us that 'she would take care of the cleanup immediately'.”
So either she's a liar or we have a different perception of time and urgency.
We are appealing to the judiciary to finally put an end to this situation and we are ready to report the owners" - declared Borrelli who on Friday 6 October will participate at 11 a.m. in a protest at the entrance to the site that caught fire on Via Lahalle - at the intersection with Via Arenaccia - front of the DODECA supermarket.
