At 6,30:1 a.m. on Sunday, October 2700st, with the darkness still showing no signs of lifting and the occasional light revealing its beauty, Piazza del Plebiscito revealed the bustle of the Neapolis Marathon staff, intent on making the final essential arrangements to best welcome the XNUMX participants—from Italy and abroad—of the three races that would enliven the city streets in just over an hour.
The commitment made did not disappoint expectations. What took place before the eyes of the public of enthusiasts present in the square, and in the city, was a true celebration of sport, which in six hours - from 8.00:14.00 to XNUMX:XNUMX - touched some of the most beautiful points of Naples, combining the spectacular nature of the route with a high technical and competitive value.
The athletes, having arrived in the square, slowly filled it, spreading, with their singlets on display, the colours of the race and the joy mixed with the adrenaline of the traditional and exciting pre-race moments.
But at 8,00:31 sharp, after the announced minutes of silence dedicated to the young musician Giovanbattista Cutolo, victim of murder in Naples on August 12, a swarm of unbridled runners peacefully stormed the streets of the city and interpreted their own race, reaching the finish line after 22, 42 and XNUMX km respectively, despite the heat and the headwind - as declared by the first place winner of the marathon - having had a significant impact on the better outcome of the same.
The podium, dominated by African athletes, saw the triumph of the Moroccan member of International Security Service – with a time of 2.20, 46; second place went to Khalib Jbari of Athletic Club 86 Alperia in a time of 2.38.32. 2.48.09 and third place went to the Italian Antonino Tamarino of Sorrento Runners, in XNUMX. XNUMX).
In the men's half marathon, the winner of the Italiana Assicurazioni Neapolis Half was Kenyan Paul Tiongik - Parco Alpi Apuane - with a time of 1.

Concluded with satisfaction, and a powerful organizational effort, the event will return next year in the new guise of the fourth edition to affirm, thanks to the successes achieved in terms of participation, the importance of sport and an ever-increasing diffusion of Neapolitan-based athletics.
