Twenty-three shows are on the program and the creation of the study center “La casa di Manlio” is underway in Todi.
Twenty-five thousand spectators, five hundred artists, two hundred shows, twenty cities, three hundred and sixty stages set up in private living rooms, but also villas, gardens, vineyards, terraces, museums. These are the numbers of “Il Teatro cerca Casa”, the series of itinerant shows in apartments, conceived by Manlio Santanelli, now in its twelfth edition and presented in the playwright’s living room. On the bill: ten new productions, nine returns, three events, one special event, thirty-nine artists. The shows will be staged in thirty homes, distributed between Campania, Umbria, Molise and Sicily. In Naples in the Posillipo, Vomero, Chiaia neighborhoods and in the historic center, in Anacapri, Portici, Torre del Greco, Castellammare di Stabia, Caserta, Salerno, Eboli, Cava de' Tirreni, Rotondi in the province of Avellino, in Todi, Larino and in Catania.
This year's show is titled "Don't say Theatre if you don't have it at home" - comments Santanelli - and the paraphrase of the well-known saying "don't count your chickens before they're even hatched." This title aims to offer those who aren't used to going to the theater the opportunity to familiarize themselves with it through private performances.
Among the new developments are a series of major projects in partnership with the Municipality of Todi: a study center called "La casa di Manlio," which will be located in the playwright's apartment in the Umbrian city; an International Theatre School; and the second edition of the project "Todi and the Challenge of Stories - A Carousel of Stories Through the Districts," curated by Fabio Cocifoglia. The project aims to rediscover ancient tales to be performed as short plays during the "Todi City of Archers" event and at events organized by the Arcus Tuder association.
"The review of The Theatre Seeks a Home - explains the organizer Livia Coletta - continues its mission: to create a different dimension of enjoyment of live performance, where the intimacy of a private home is reconciled with the theatre."
During the meeting moderated by the journalist Giuseppe Giorgio, the associations that the theater supports were presented: the Giglio Foundation, which carries out social and cultural activities with the aim of protecting childhood and more and the Omniartecaserta Center of Arts and Entertainment.
On Tuesday 17 October at 19 pm the Giglio Foundation opens the season in a living room in Posillipo with the show Io, Raffa e tu. On Monday 30 October at 18 pm at Casa Santanelli in Vomero Cesira's Le tre verità will be performed.
