The roles of all supporters of Francesco Pio Valda in prison as the alleged murderer of the innocent young Francesco Pio Maimone.
Article Key Points
The murder of the 19 year old pizza chef from Pianura occurred on the night of March 20th in front of the chalets of Mergellina.
Among those arrested is Valda's grandmother, who put the gun in the toilet to hide it from the police. With that fight between young people and very young people linked to rival clans in different neighborhoods of Napoli, degenerated by a stomp on a pair of designer sneakers, the victim had nothing to do with it. Yet he was the one who died, without even knowing why.
Among the people reached by the precautionary measures (4 in prison and 3 under house arrest) issued by the investigating judge at the request of the DDA, there are also the killer's sister, Giuseppina Valda (under house arrest), his uncle, Giuseppe Perna (put in prison) and his grandmother, Giuseppina Niglio (also under house arrest). The other suspects are friends of the gunman, son of Ciro Valda, affiliated with the Cuccaro clan who died in a Camorra ambush in 2013: they are Salvatore Mancini, Pasquale Saiz, Rocco Sorrentino and Alessandra Clemente (the first three in prison and the last under house arrest).
The reconstruction of that dramatic night
That dramatic night, after having fired several gunshots, some of which ended up in a parked car and one, fatal, in Maimone's chest, Valda was loaded into the car and made to escape by his friends, arrested today, who also allegedly made the weapon used in the crime disappear.
Nevertheless, the killer was stopped by the Flying Squad the day after the murder and on the following March 23 the precautionary measure was validated by the investigating judge. The investigations of the Flying Squad, coordinated by the first director Alfredo Fabbrocini, allowed to ascertain that at the time of the tragedy, near the chalet where the fight broke out, there were, with Francesco Pio Valda, Pasquale Saiz and his uncle Giuseppe Perna.
These two suspects, together with Alessandra Clemente and Giuseppina Valda, his sister, would have provided him with all the assistance possible to allow him to escape and get rid of the gun. Salvatore Mancini instead took care of informing the young killer, who was sleeping peacefully at his grandmother's house, of the investigations and of the need to escape to a safe place.
Mancini warned Valda of the police's arrival
In fact, at 11, Salvatore Mancini called his friend's grandmother's house, asking her to wake him up. "Are the guards there?" "Where?" "At your house?" "Nooo." "Is Pio there?" "He's sleeping." "Wake him up, tell him I'm Totore. Put him through to me, it's important."
The investigators accuse Francesco Pio's grandmother, Giuseppina Niglio, of having delayed the investigations in particular by hiding the weapon (not yet found) in the toilet. The circumstance emerged from the content of some wiretaps. Finally, Rocco Sorrentino, again according to the conversations recorded by the Police, kept a weapon while Giuseppina Valda during a search was also found in possession of drugs hidden in a drawer.
Messages on social media
After the murder of the pizza chef, several messages were posted on social media from anonymous profiles that were later deleted, praising the Aprea-Valda criminal family from the San Giovanni-Barra neighborhood.
Some portrayed the killer in the company of a scion of the local organized crime, others highlighted the clashes between the various neighborhoods of the city that had divided up the chalets on the city's seafront, like the one on Tik-Tok in which the gangs of Pianura, Bagnoli and Soccavo threatened those of Barra: "Don't let yourselves be found in Naples, we'll cut off your heads... Mergellina red zone for all of you from Barra".
