Edp Renewables, uno dei principali produttori di energia eolica e solare al mondo, incrementa il proprio portafoglio di rinnovabili in Italia, inaugurando tre nuovi wind farms in Campania and bringing the total capacity built in the country to approximately 550 megawatts.
The wind farms of San Giorgio (Benevento), Casalbore (Avellino) and Greci (Avellino) have an installed capacity of almost 80 Mw, which will generate approximately 190 Gigawatt hours per year, thus reducing the annual emission of Co2 by over 110 thousand tons. These projects will provide enough energy to supply approximately 70 thousand families in the region.
“Italy is one of the European markets where we are looking to strengthen our presence, thanks to the huge potential of new renewable capacity – commented Roberto Pasqua, Executive Director South-East Europe of Edp Renewables -. In less than five years, we have increased our installed capacity by almost 150%, reaching almost 550 MW. Edpr will continue to contribute to the energy transition and accelerate its pace through the realization of new renewable projects and new ways of growth”.
Edpr entered the Italian market in 2010 and its first wind farm came into operation in 2012. In Italy it has over 200 MW under construction and more than 60 employees. The growth in Italy is part of Edpr’s global plan – active in four global hubs – to invest 20 billion euros in renewables, of which 40% dedicated to onshore technologies in European countries.
In the first six months of 2023, Edp Renewables reached 15,2 GW of installed capacity in renewable assets worldwide, with 1,4 GW added in the last 12 months. The company also generated more than 18 TWh of renewable energy worldwide, an increase of 11% compared to the previous year.
