Music as life, healing, a powerful interdisciplinary creative tool that fosters dialogue and intimate encounters between people as well as between subjects.

And musical education as an education to feelings: through a language that releases emotions, generates transformations, activates emotional relationships and soothes wounds. The community show that will be performed in Naples on WEDNESDAY 11 OCTOBER 2023 at 17.00:XNUMX pm, in the presence of, among others, the mayor Gaetano Manfredi, in the heart of Forcella, on the stage of the Teatro Trianon Viviani (Piazza Vincenzo Calenda), is ideally dedicated to Giovambattista (Giogiò) Cutolo, the young Neapolitan musician killed in Piazza Municipio.

The stage of the Neapolitan theater will welcome, in a big embrace, “PAROLE DI NOTE”, a public restitution of the full immersion musical Masterclass by and with Elisabetta Garilli and three members of her Verona Atelier (Gianluca Gozzi, bassist and percussionist; Giulia Carli, dancer and dance therapist; Serena Abagnato, set designer).

Joining them on stage were approximately 150 children and teenagers from seven classes at the Volino-Croce-Arcoleo Comprehensive Institute, a music-focused school in the Vergini district led by principal Pasquale Vitiello, along with teachers Marcella Famà, Alessandra Spadaccini, Mariangela Maresca, Gabriella Gagliardi, and Gilda Ricca.

The original experimental event, with free admission (reservation required, subject to availability, info: 333.5223339 | mail: kolibrinapoli@gmail.com), is the seventh and final training step (cultural, artistic, educational and social) of the Reading Literacy Muta/menti project for “adolescents”, an engaging journey into creative reading and bibliodiversity for an ecology of the mind conceived and curated by the Kolibrì cultural association in partnership with numerous institutions and associations, with funding from the Centre for Books and Reading of the Ministry of Culture and a contribution from BPER:Banca. The result of an innovative Masterclass of “music workshops”, intensive and interactive, lasting 12 hours in total (4 hours every morning for three consecutive days: 9, 10 and 11 October in the Sala Filangieri of the State Archives of Naples, directed by Candida Carrino who welcomed the grand piano donated to the Archives by Kiki Bernasconi, used for the first time on this occasion), «Parole di note» is not by chance a paradigmatic prelude to the joyful final party/festival of the VI edition of the Juvenilia literary prize Il mondo salvato dai ragazzini (which will culminate in the award ceremony and the final show by and with Gek Tessaro Il cuore di Chisciotte, on Friday 13 October in the Teatro dei Piccoli).

With its transformation of verbal stimuli, sound rhythms, images and emotions inspired by the winning books, alongside the exemplary stories of French Romantic composers such as Rita Strohl, Louise Farrenc and Mélanie Hélène Bonis, «Parole di note» thus takes shape, in times of educational emergency, as a challenge that is not only pedagogical: a path of listening and restitution that intertwines live music, dance and narration, enriched by the concrete contribution of the kids involved interactively in the creative process in an augmented artistic reality shared by an educational, cultural and socially inclusive experimentation in dialogue between sounds and bodies, voices and gestures, live music and a scenography in progress.

The pianist, author, composer and expert trainer of applied music teaching Elisabetta Garilli will direct and “guide” the show: on the afternoon of October 9th and 10th, introduced by the president of Kolibrì Donatella Trotta, she will also be the protagonist of two creat(t)ive meetings with teachers from Naples and Acerra on musical and sentimental education to be cultivated early, as suggested in her book La classe è un'orchestra (Erickson). A further form/active supplement to a project that, in a stubborn and contrary direction to rampant violence, has made its own the conviction of Yehudi Menuhin, for whom «every life is a work of art waiting to be expressed».
