Work has officially begun on the redevelopment and regeneration of the underpass on Via Provinciale Andolfi, a border road between Boscoreale , Pompei, and Torre Annunziata, municipalities in the Naples metropolitan area. Among those present at the event were Regional Councilor Mario Casillo (Democratic Party), the mayors of Pompei and Boscoreale, Carmine Lo Sapio and Pasquale di Lauro, the President of the Pompei City Council, Giuseppe La Marca, the sole person responsible for the Ente Autonomo Volturno-EaV procedure, Fiorentino Borrello, and Mario Barbati, representing the Concessionaire.
The executive project, in line with what was defined in the conference of services, is part of the intervention Doubling of the Circumvesuviana Torre Annunziata-Moregine line and includes the creation of a public park and an urban garden. In particular, the current underpass area, conceived and built over twenty years ago, will be completely transformed to create a meeting and aggregation point for citizens, especially families and young people.
In fact, an urban park will be created with green areas, LED lighting, fountains, benches and steps will be created for the setting up of a terraced vegetable garden. Once the work is completed, "the underpass that is currently in a complete state of degradation and abandonment will become - reports an EaV note - a meeting and aggregation point for all citizens". The road repaving works on Via Andolfi were completed last April, in the section between the Villa Regina stop and the underpass and, in the coming months, work will begin to complete the other road works planned in the project.
