"The emptying and cleaning operations of the river basin continue in Polla Tanager, and at the same time, vehicles and equipment will be moved to the other affected municipalities for future interventions."
The news was announced in a press release by the regional councilor of Campania Corrado Matera, after the inspection carried out in the last few hours in the company of - among others - the mayor of Polla Massimo Loviso, the president of the Consorzio di Bonifica Vallo di Diano e Tanagro Beniamino Curcio, and Giovanna Fiume, director of the works.
"A well-structured program of interventions is underway on the Tanagro," Matera emphasizes, "and today we are beginning to see the results of the first phase, involving cleaning and emptying the reservoirs. While we wait for the Polla project to be completed, the operations will involve other municipalities, where the same activities will be carried out."
These works are necessary for the winter season, and precede the actual, very significant and substantial structural intervention approved by the Campania Region, for a total of 12 million euros.

"A first tranche of 6 million euros has already been financed - highlights the regional councilor originally from the Vallo di Diano - and the tender for the assignment of the works will start shortly, which will allow the structural recovery of the river.
There were many difficulties, but we always worked diligently and with determination, achieving significant results. Regarding the Polla project, I would like to take this opportunity to thank Mayor Loviso and President Curcio: the collaborative work of the Municipality of Polla, the Land Reclamation Consortium, and the Campania Region has enabled a long-needed intervention. I thank President Vincenzo De Luca, Vice President Fulvio Bonavitacola, and the Campania Regional Agency for Environmental Protection (SMA) for their attentiveness.
Finally, Matera expressed satisfaction with the completion of the Tanagro River project, long-awaited by the communities of the Vallo di Diano. "I think," he concluded, "this is the right way to go about things: addressing the issues with determination, building synergy with local governments, working quietly, and communicating the results once they're achieved."
