The 2023 season of Spazio Körper, the National Dance Production Center founded in Naples in 2003 by Gennaro Cimmino and active throughout the national and international territory, continues.
The Center's work focuses on the production and promotion of contemporary dance, understood as an art of the body and an effective communicative language, with a view to exchange and comparison with other Italian and international artistic realities.
After the performances Genoma Scenico and Ultra, curated by Nicola Galli and produced by TIR Danza, during the month of October Alessandro Sciarroni will perform in Naples with Save the last dance for me (12 October, 18:00 pm - 20:00 pm at the Complesso San Domenico Maggiore | Sala del Capitolo), the Collettivo MINE with Esercizi per un Manifesto Poetico (17 October, 20:30 pm at the Teatro Nuovo) and the Enzo Cosimi company with Coefore Rock&Roll (19 October, 20:30 pm at the Teatro Nuovo);
A dense and diversified program that exceptionally goes beyond the Spazio Körper in Via Vannella Gaetani n°27 and reaches other places in the city, creating synergies and connections with the surrounding urban fabric.
Thursday 12 October, for the first time in Campania, Save the last dance for me by Alessandro Sciarroni, an Italian artist active in the field of Performing Arts with several years of training in the field of visual arts and theatrical research. The project is realized together with the dancers Gianmaria Borzillo and Giovanfrancesco Giannini, both from Campania and also on stage for the first time, with this show, in their region.
The work focuses on the steps of a Bolognese dance called Polka Chinata, a courtship dance originally performed by men only and dating back to the early 900s: physically demanding, almost acrobatic, it requires the dancers, embracing each other, to spin wildly while bending their knees almost to the ground.

The performance Esercizi per un manifesto poetico by Collettivo MINE, scheduled for Tuesday 17 October, coincides with the founding act of the company, composed of Francesco Saverio Cavaliere, Siro Guglielmi, Fabio Novembrini, Roberta Racis and Silvia Sisto.
The co-authorial manifesto finds its danced draft in a choreographic practice written by ten hands where individual breathing and unison interpenetrate and where the choral and synchronic texture of space and bodies becomes the inspiration for a collective language and an evocative poetics. Repetition, stubborn determination, a single scenic action, powerful and structured, capable of generating interactions and igniting correspondences: the performance investigates the coexistence of a rigorous choreographic writing and an open and vibrant emotional temperature that plays out in the here and now. At the Teatro Nuovo in Naples, 20:30 pm.
Thursday 19 October will be the turn of Enzo Cosimi, one of the most authoritative choreographers and directors of the contemporary Italian scene, with Coefore Rock&Roll, second stage of the project Orestea. Trilogia della Vendetta; it is a site-specific concert performance that involves visual and spatial elements in transmedial and transdisciplinary forms.
In a realm of childhood nightmares, broken toys, colored blankets and a visual horizon inspired by the sign of the artist Mike Kelley, the ferocity of a brutal crime emerges that calls into question the individual and with it all of humanity: the act of killing the one who gave life. To establish a new order in the world or to be damned for life for the murder of one's mother? This is the moral conflict of Oreste, at the Teatro Nuovo in Naples, at 20:30 pm.
In these years of activity Körper has become a point of reference in Campania for the quality of the proposals realized in different fields: professional training, production of shows and promotion of dance. One of the characteristics that distinguishes the work of the Center is the constant programming of research paths around disciplines apparently distant from each other, a need that underlines how today we feel with ever greater intensity the desire for dialogue between the arts that are no longer placed in separate continents but are increasingly interconnected.
The recognition of the MIC in June 2022 as a National Dance Production Center comes after 20 years of activity and encourages the Center to continue supporting the emergence of young choreographers from the Campania Region, with an open eye to international artistic realities.
Over the years, the Körper Production Center has built relationships with institutional and local organizations involved in the production and dissemination of dance and the arts, such as the Teatro Pubblico Campano, the National Archaeological Museum of Naples (MANN), the Academy of Fine Arts, the Casa del Contemporaneo Theater Production Center, the Teatro Nazionale di Napoli, and the Liceo Coreutico Palizzi, with which it maintains an ongoing dialogue, thus expanding its programming offerings in the locations of its partnerships.
