Firefighters are carrying out checks in the Pozzuoli area following the magnitude 4.0 earthquake that struck this evening shortly after 22:XNUMX PM in the Campi Flegrei area, where a seismic swarm is currently underway.
Videos posted on social media show some pieces of cornice falling in the Agnano area. In the Phlegraean Fields area, but also in Napoli city, some people poured into the streets.
At the moment there have been no reports of damage to the fire brigade operations room of the Provincial Command of Naples for the shock that arrived at 22.08 (and not 20.24.50). Also the Situation Room of the Regional Civil Protection, in contact with national civil protection structures, confirms at 22.50 that there are no reported damages.
The Vesuvian Observatory then communicated to the Pozzuoli administration that a sequence of seismic events is underway in the Campi Flegrei area with a maximum preliminary magnitude of 4.0 (0.3).
The most significant event occurred near Via V Traversa Pisciarelli at a depth of 2.6 km. Using the Municipality's Facebook page, Pozzuoli Mayor Luigi Manzoni advised that for any reports of damage and/or disruption, please call the Municipal Police Operations Center (081/8551891) and the Civil Protection Department (081/18894400).
Meanwhile, many social media posts are focusing on the tremor, which was felt not only in the Phlegraean Fields but also in the neighboring neighborhoods of Naples, especially on the upper floors. The tremor is reported to have lasted only a few seconds but was intense.

Just today in the Region a meeting was held on the seismic events that are affecting the Campi Flegrei area, with the governor Vincenzo De Luca, to make in particular a verification of the plans already existing on the transport and health front.
Vesuvius Observatory, shallow earthquake but swarm continues
"It was a shallow earthquake; people felt it especially in the Agnano area, closest to the epicenter. We expect more earthquakes, but aside from some fallen debris, there doesn't appear to be any significant damage to structures at this time."
This is the first analysis by the director of the Vesuvius Observatory, Mauro Di Vito, speaking to the microphones of Canale 21, after this evening's earthquake, which was clearly felt in the Neapolitan capital.
"Seismic activity is ongoing and will continue. There's no doubt about that," Di Mauro explained. "The ground uplift will continue. The defenses we need to adopt consist of correct behavior. We need to manage fear and carry out all necessary checks on buildings. Earthquakes," he concluded, "are unpredictable, but I can assure you that everything is being done to mitigate the effects of the earthquake."
The mayor of Pozzuoli: "We are monitoring the area."
"We are monitoring the area and have technicians on standby to respond to reports," Pozzuoli Mayor Gigi Manzoni wrote on Facebook. "The tremor," he explained, "was strong, a magnitude 4.0 earthquake, located near Via V Traversa Pisciarelli.
