The Association of Sons of the South, after years of requests and research, have finally found the burial place of Gennarino Capuozzo, hero of the 4 days of Naples.
“As promised yesterday after 80 years we found him, Gennarino Capuozzo gold medal for military valor 1943 the 4 days of Naples without a flower without light, for those who want and at the monumental cemetery of Poggioreale Naples balestrieri area, archconfraternity charity of God to health, niche 62 only on Sundays from 9 to 12.
LET US HONOR OUR TRUE FALLEN IN WAR – These are the words in the video published by Massimiliano Grillo, president of the association "Figli del Sud – popolo sovrano" (Sons of the South – Sovereign People). Today, we commemorate false heroes, he continues, like Garibaldi and Vittorio Emanuele II, but not true heroes like Gennarino Capuozzo, who resisted and died at the age of 12, solely for the love of his city.
“The number of fallen during the four days is uncertain, only the records of the oldest cemetery in Europe, the “Poggioreale Cemetery”, to date show 562 people, but our thoughts of gratitude and our prayers are with everyone, wherever their remains, often unknown, rest.

After years of research we can today commemorate in front of his grave the youngest "GOLD MEDAL FOR MILITARY VALOR" in our history, GENNARO CAPUOZZO known as
“ Gennarino“. At only eleven years old he took part in the fighting against the Germans during the battle of Via Santa Teresa degli Scalzi, where he was hit and killed by the explosion of an enemy grenade.
Found at the Monumental Cemetery of Poggioreale - Naples, Balestrieri area, in the Royal Archconfraternity of CHARITY OF GOD TO HEALTH, where he was laid to rest by his father Luigi and mother Anna Frappuccino. Today, Gennarino would be 91 years old, could still tell us about his heroic life, and would certainly have told us that "Freedom has no price," nor any age limit for conquering or defending it.
We ask the institutions to place a plaque in memory of Gennarino in a square dedicated to him” – concludes Lucia La Cuccurullo.

A plaque or a street in his memory is the least that the city of Naples should have dedicated to him for some time now. Rest in peace Gennarino, you were a true hero, no more talk….
