Numerous incidents of racism against Neapolitans occurred before, during, and after the Serie A match between Verona and Napoli. During the match, Neapolitan fans and journalists were targeted in the stands, subjected to constant insults, swear words, and blasphemies by opposing supporters.

A video shared on social media captured the racist insults received by a young man who, riding his bicycle past some Verona fans, ironically shouted "Forza Napoli!" Alleanza Verdi e Sinistra MP Francesco Emilio Borrelli denounced the incident. "Scenes of racism and intolerance are simply unacceptable."

This isn't sport, it's not football. The ignorance and narrow-mindedness of some fans cannot be tolerated under any circumstances.

These people must be identified and severely punished; they must be banned from entering stadiums. This time, videos on social media will help identify these unrestrained racists who wait for a match to vent their frustration.

My full solidarity - he added - with the journalists and fans who have had to endure these heavy and violent attacks".

"Shameful things happened in Verona during the match against Napoli. First, some pseudo-Napoli fans were rightly banned and sent home for throwing smoke bombs into the street and engaging in uncivilized behavior.

Then, a real assault on journalists in the press gallery, videos with racist phrases and insults bordering on violence. I ask the FIGC to intervene and I wonder when our football will become as civilized as the English one, truly capable of hosting families.

The insults of territorial discrimination are unspeakable manifestations, just as the insults and attempted attacks on journalists are absurd". This is what the deputy group leader of Fratelli d'Italia in the Chamber of Deputies, Alfredo Antoniozzi, states.
