At 16 he's already worth a billion. It's the story of lamina yamal, the new phenomenon that emerged from the youth teams of Barcelona, a traditional breeding ground for champions. At the age of 15 years, 9 months and 16 days Yamal made his debut in the Liga with the Barcelona, becoming the youngest debutant in the Blaugrana first team.
Then, at 16 years and 57 days, he also made his 'first appearance' in the Spanish senior national team, in the match won by La Roja 7-1 away to Georgia: Yamal scored the seventh goal for his team and thus became, on 8 September, both the youngest debutant and the earliest scorer in the history of the Spanish national team.
Now the boy's contract renewal has also arrived, signed today in the presence of president Joan Laporta, vice-president Rafa Yuste and sporting director Deco, and it is newsworthy that the agreement that binds him to Barcelona until June 2026 there is a termination clause which is, in fact, one billion euros.
It should also be noted that given the age of the player in question, a minor, the contract could not have a duration longer than three years, otherwise Barça would have offered Yamal and his agent Jorge Mendes a longer one. We will talk about it again when Yamal, born in July 2007, comes of age.
